Kerala: Rahul Mamkoottathil granted bail in third rape case
The defence argued before the court that the relationship between the accused and the complainant was consensual. Taking these submissions into account, the court granted bail. The order was issued after examining the case details and the observations made by the lower court.
Pathanamthitta: In a major relief to Palakkad MLA Rahul, the Pathanamthitta District Sessions Court granted bail in connection with the third rape case against him. Rahul Mamkoottathil was arrested 18 days before after the Thiruvalla magistrate court granted bail to him after a woman residing abroad filed a complaint against him alleging sexual assault after making promise to marry him.
Subsequently, the District Sessions Court was approached, which resulted in a favourable order.

The third case pertains to a complaint made by a woman staying in Dubai who alleged that she was subjected to sexual assault inside a hotel room in Thiruvalla where she was asked to book a room by Rahul. The woman’s counsel filed digital evidences in the Thiruvalla court to prove that the relationship was no consensual. The court accepted the argument and had rejected Rahul’s bail plea.
Meanwhile, Rahul Mamkoottathil had maintained that he had consensual relationship with all the 3 woman who had made allegations against him.
