Kerala: Two sports trainees found dead in Kollam government sports hostel

Kollam: In a major shocker, 2 young girls who were sports trainees staying at a hostel were found dead in a room in Kollam on Thursday early morning
According to police, one of the two girls was an athletics trainee studying in Plus Two, while the other girl was a kabaddi player and a Class 10 student.
The incident came to light around 5 a.m. when fellow hostel inmates noticed that the duo had not reported for the morning training session.
The reason for the deaths is yet to be ascertained and no note has been recovered from the room, police officials said. Police will record statements from other sportspersons in the hostel, their trainers and relatives, an official said.
The bodies will be handed over to relatives after post-mortem examinations, police added.
"We are probing the case and the investigation is in its initial stages. We cannot reveal anything as of now as we need more time to check the mobile phones and other interactions of the girl’s with their friends and closed associates”, said a senior police official associated with the probe team to media.
