Speaking on the case, Sivankutty asked, "How did Unnikrishnan Potti gain access to Sonia Gandhi’s residence? The relationship between Sonia Gandhi, Adoor Prakash and Unnikrishnan Potti is shocking. It is crucial that the investigation reaches Sonia Gandhi. The conspiracy must be exposed. Regardless of position, Sonia Gandhi should be brought within the ambit of the investigation. Sonia Gandhi’s statement is decisive”.

Meanwhile, BJP state president K Surendran questioned the KPCC leadership on the matter and demanded an answer on how the first accused in the gold theft case manage to access the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

"The matter must be investigated in detail and the Congress leaders who introduced Potti to Sonia Gandhi should be questioned by the SIT in the case. It should be noted that the meeting took place in the same year Potti had managed to collect the gold plates from the temple”, said senior BJP leader K Surendran.

UDF convener Adoor Prakash has responded to the controversies involving Unnikrishnan Potti, prime accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case.

"Unnikrishnan Potti is a person from my constituency, and that is how I came to know him. He approached me requesting that I inaugurate annadanam at Sabarimala saying he was organizing it there. I took part in that event. It was after that Potti went to Delhi to offer prasadam to Sonia Gandhi. Potti already had prior permission to meet Sonia Gandhi. I had gone along with him. It was not through me that Potty got the appointment”, said UDF convenor and senior Congress leader Adoor Prakash.

However, Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also earlier raised questions on the meeting of Potti with Sonia Gandhi and thus leading to a war of words between the CPM and the Congress on the matter.
