Thiruvananthapuram: In a major relief to nearly 62 lakh beneficiaries of welfare pension, the state government will disburse Rs 3600 for the month of November. The good news comes a day after the Kerala government hiked the social security and welfare pension to ₹2,000.
Finance Minister KN Balagopal announced that beneficiaries would receive two months’ pension in November. Addressing the media here on Friday, the minister said that a total of ₹3,600, including a pending arrear of ₹1,600, would be distributed.
"All beneficiaries will receive the amount on the same date as per the schedule. The LDF government will not backtrack from its promises. We only make promises that will be fulfilled without fail,” he said.
Meanwhile, he dismissed the Opposition’s criticism of the financial measures announced by the LDF government.
"The Opposition leader should take these announcements positively. This is not a political stunt ahead of the local body polls. The LDF government is confident of implementing all the announcements made by the Chief Minister at his October 29 press meet,” he added.
Of the 62 lakh beneficiaries, 26.62 lakh will have the pension credited directly to their bank accounts, while the rest will receive it at their homes through cooperative banks.
