New Delhi: In a shocking incident reported from Maharashtra's Waveji village, a 15-year-old girl reportedly died of a heart attack after participating in a school sports event. The village lies on the Talasari border between Maharashtra and Gujarat. She was a student of Bharti Academy English School of Lok Bharati Sanstha in Vevaji of Talasari taluka.
The victim was identified as 15-year-old, Roshni Goswami. According to her eachers, she took part in the marathon with great enthusiasm and managed to secure the third place in the competition. The girl belonged to Umargaon.
Several other schools in the district are also organising their annual sports meet during this time. Through this, the schools try to encourage yiung children to take part in sports activities and promote a habit of healthy living in them.
The run was organised as part of the annual day function of Bharti Academy in Vevji Sorathpada of Talasari taluka on Saturday, January 3. The class 10 student collapsed on the field soon after completing the run. The prizes were yet to be announced, said her teachers.
According to her teachers, the girl started to face breathing difficulties soon after reaching the finish line. She sat on the school playground and before anyone could understand what was wrong with her, she collapsed. The girl was immediately rushed to a hospital in Umbergaon. But doctors at the medical facility declared her brought dead.
The police have registered an ADR in the matter and are investigating the death of the young child. Initial reports suggested that Goswami suffered a heart attack, but a post mortem report is awaited in the matter.
A pall of gloom descended on the border villages of Umbargaon and Talasari talukas, following the death of the student. Her family members are inconsolable.
