Patient denied medical treatment

The victim's family said that he suffered leg injuries after an unidentified vehicle hit his bike on Sunday night. They waited for a long time to receive treatment and for the doctor to wake up. Realising that the patient was in a very critical state, they also prevailed on the other medical staff for help too, but they did not pay any heed.

The family alleged that the inefficiency of the hospital staff in providing timely and appropriate medical treatment to the accident victim led to his death.

Hospital authorities initiate probe

In response to the allegations, the hospital authorities took cognizance of the situation and immediately suspended Dr Rai. A three-member inquiry committee was set up to investigate the incident. Principal Dr RC Gupta confirmed that appropriate action was taken after reviewing the footage and hearing the family's account. He also assured that "appropriate action will be taken against those responsible".

Dr Gupta further said that the victim was brought to the hospital around 1 am on Monday.  He was also quoted as saying by Times of India that the hospital  has also taken note of the fact that in the widely circulated video, the patient's family members were pleading for treatment.
