Operation Sindoor on games field: PM Modi lauds Indias victory against Pakistan in Asia Cup final

New Delhi: India on Sunday defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup final by five wickets. They clinched their ninth Asia Cup title, and it triggered massive celebrations all over the country. The victory has been cheered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who referred to Operation Sindoor while lauding the win.

Taking to X, PM Modi said, "Operation Sindoor on the games field. The outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers." He pointed out the fact that India has defeated Pakistan, be it in military or in sports.

The Pahalgam terror attack took place in April, in which 26 innocent people were killed at the tourist spot in Kashmir. The terrorists had links with Pakistan. As a result, the Indian Armed Forces launched devastating airstrikes at Pakistan's terror infrastructure and military installations in May, breaking the back of terrorism and the neighbouring country's defence system. Finally, it forced Pakistan to dial India and request a ceasefire.

India, in the Asia Cup 2025, defeated Pakistan thrice, including the one in the final. Tilak Varma and his useful partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube ensured that India crossed the finishing line. It was a clinical and gritty performance from India, which helped them to clinch the second Asia Cup title in the T20I format. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India have won 18 T20Is on the trot and lost just two and tied two in the process.
