Operation Sindoor proved there is no safe haven for terrorists, says PM Modi in Tamil Nadu
Prime Minister Modi, during the Adi Thiruvathirai festival in Tamil Nadu, praised the Chola dynasty's contributions to democracy, diplomacy, and cultural unity. He said Operation Sindoor showed India's strength, proving no place is safe for terrorists attacking India's sovereignty.
Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the Adi Thiruvathirai festival at the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. During the event, he offered prayers for the well-being of the 140 crore Indians and spoke about the country’s spiritual strength, cultural pride, and growing power in the world.
PM Modi, who is also the MP from Kashi (Varanasi), said he feels goosebumps whenever he hears the chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. Speaking about the spiritual atmosphere at the temple, he praised the music by Ilaiyaraaja and the energy of Shiva Darshan, calling it an emotional experience.
He also released a special coin featuring the image of Raja Raja Chola. While addressing the crowd, he recalled the contribution of the Chola dynasty to Indian culture, trade, and governance. He said, "The Cholas were pioneers in democracy and water management. Their legacy is India’s strength even today.”
PM Modi highlighted how Chola kings had strong trade and diplomatic ties with countries like Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Southeast Asia. He pointed out the coincidence of visiting the Maldives a day before this event in Tamil Nadu.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to continue Chola-era values through initiatives like Kashi-Tamil Sangamam and Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam, which aim to strengthen India’s cultural unity. He also recalled how the ‘Sengol’, a symbol of Tamil culture, was installed in the new Parliament, spiritually led by the saints of Shiv Aadinam.
The Prime Minister called the Chola era one of India’s golden periods. He praised the Kudavolai system of democratic elections and said it served as a model even before British democracy. He also praised Chola achievements in architecture and naval strength.
Speaking about national security, PM Modi said, "Operation Sindoor proved that there are no safe havens for terrorists anymore.” He added that the entire world has now seen how India firmly responds when its sovereignty is attacked. According to him, this military action has boosted the confidence of the nation and proved that today's India prioritizes its security.
PM Modi said, "The Chola tradition is everlasting, and their names, Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra Chola, are forever written in our country’s history. Inspired by them, India is marching ahead towards becoming a developed nation.”
