New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Friday said that Operation Sindoor is still active and stressed the need for India’s military to remain fully prepared at all times. He said this while speaking at a defence seminar held at Subroto Park in New Delhi.

The event, titled ‘Aerospace Power: Preserving India’s Sovereignty and Furthering National Interests’, was organised under the No.4 Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Programme.

General Chauhan highlighted that wars do not have second-place winners, and a nation’s armed forces must always be alert and ready. "Our level of preparedness must be very high — 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round,” he said, citing Operation Sindoor as an example.

Gen Chauhan also spoke about the changing nature of warfare. He said that modern-day soldiers must go beyond physical combat and become "information warriors, technology warriors, and scholar warriors." In the future, he added, a soldier will need to combine knowledge of warfare (Shastra) with deep understanding and intellect (Shaastra).

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in the early hours of May 7 to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan also responded with attacks, and India’s counter-operations were all part of Operation Sindoor. The cross-border conflict ended after both countries reached a mutual understanding on the evening of May 10.
