Parliament Monsoon Session 2025 Live Updates: On Day 2 of the Parliament debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, Union home minister Amit Shah informed the House that all three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack have been killed by security forces. He also said that over 100 terrorists were eliminated during Operation Sindoor.
Taking a sharp dig at the Congress, Shah criticised previous governments for failing to bring earlier terror accused to justice. Responding point-by-point to the Opposition’s charges, Shah said Congress leaders had even questioned whether the attackers were Pakistani, accusing them of weakening the national narrative on terrorism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the House later in the day. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to speak before the PM’s address.
The first day of the debate saw heated exchanges between the Opposition and Treasury benches, with both Houses witnessing repeated disruptions over Operation Sindoor and former US President Donald Trump’s claim that he played a key role in brokering the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Follow LIVE
In a debate on Operation Sindoor, PM Narendra Modi said, "No leader in the world told India to stop its operation. On the night of 9th May, the Vice President of America tried to talk to me. He tried for an hour, but I was in a meeting with my army, so I could not pick up his call. Later, I called him back. The Vice President of America told me on the phone that Pakistan is going to launch a big attack. My answer was that if Pakistan has this intention, it will cost them a lot. If Pakistan attacks, we will respond by launching a big attack. This was my answer..."
In his speech on Operation Sindoor, PM Narendra Modi said, "On one hand, India is moving ahead at a fast pace towards self-reliance, but Congress is becoming dependent on Pakistan for issues. Unfortunately, Congress is importing issues from Pakistan..."
PM Narendra Modi said, "Terrorists are crying, their masterminds are crying and seeing them cry, some people are crying here too. They tried to play a game during the surgical strike, but it didn't work. During the airstrike, they tried playing another game. That didn't work either. When Operation Sindoor took place, they adopted a new tactic - "Why did you stop?"...Waah re bayan bahaduron! You need one or the other excuse to oppose. So, not just me but the entire country is laughing at you."
Speaking about India's advanced air defence system, PM Modi said that "India's air defence systems are now being talked about across the world for the way they repulsed Pakistan attacks: PM Modi on Op Sindoor".
PM Modi in his speech said that "It has been an old habit with Congress to have a negative approach to the armed forces; Congress yet to embrace the Kargil win".
Going into the details of the Operation Sindoor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "On 10th May, India announced cessation of action under Operation Sindoor. A lot of things were said here regarding this. This is the same propaganda that has been spread from across the border..."
PM Modi said that the security forces were questioned by the Congress party during the "Surgical Strike" in 2016.

Speaking in the parliament, PM Modi said that "Congress doesn't have trust in the security forces of India". Criticising the Opposition, PM Modi said that "you can make headlines with your questions on Operation Sindoor, but you can't win hearts".
PM Modi said that India "destroyed terror sites deep inside Pakistan within 22 minutes to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack," in which 26 civilians were killed.
During the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi said, "I was abroad on 22nd April. I returned immediately. And immediately after coming back, I called a meeting and we gave clear instructions that a befitting reply has to be given to terrorism, and this is our national resolve. The army was given a free hand to act. And it was also said that the army should decide when, where, how and in what manner. All these things were clearly said in that meeting."
Responding to the LoP remarks about the restrained power of the forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the forces were given a free hand to take action.
Hailing the deterrence forces of India, PM Modi called the Operation Sindoor as Vijay Utsav.
Speaking during the debate on Operation Sindoor, LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that the entire discussion is about people who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack. Gandhi said that he wants "to tell PM Modi the nation is above your image, nation is above your politics, nation is above your PR", he said.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that this government is clueless about what deterrence means. "You don't understand the basics of warfare."
Rahul Gandhi also quoted CDS Anil Chauhan's statement during the press briefing, where he mentioned that "the point is not jets were downed, but why were they down. That was because their hands were tied behind their back".
Rahul Gandhi, targeting the government, said that there was no political will. "We had done an immediate surrender in 20 minutes. He also said he told Pakistanis that India is not going to hit military infrastructure," Gandhi said.
Speaking in the parliament, Rahul Gandhi said that Yesterday he watched Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's speech. "He said Op Sindoor began at 1:05 AM, and then he said the operation lasted 22 minutes, and then he said the most shocking thing that at 1.35 am we called Pakistan and told them that we do not want escalation," he said. "The DMGO of India was told to ask for a ceasefire. You told Pakistan that you are not going to hit the Pakistani military targets. You told Pakistan about your political link," he added.
Gandhi, in his speech, said that in 1971, India under Indira Gandhi showed political will. "She told the superpower that come if you want, but we will do what we want in Bangladesh. You need to have political will to make use of the army. You have to give me operational freedom".
Rahul Gandhi said that whenever he meets a soldier, he immediately realises that solider is a tiger and can not be shaken. "If you want to get the tiger to work, you have to give him freedom," Gandhi demanded the free hand of security forces.
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, condemned the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed. "I went to Navy officer Narwal's house and sat there for 2 hours. His father informed me about his life story. Every Indian felt pain when he was killed. Everybody condemned what happened at Pahalgam," Gandhi said in opening remarks during the Op Sindoor debate.
Speaking during the debate on the Operation Sindoor Samjawadi Party, MP Dimple Yadav criticised the government's foreign policy, saying that "India's foreign policy has failed". She added the government should answer all the questions raised by the Opposition leaders.

As the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda has withdrawn his comments on LoP. LoP in the House Mallikarjun Kharge said, "There are a few leaders in this House I have immense respect for. Nadda ji is one of them. Rajnath ji and he are ministers who speak without losing their balance. He is telling me today. This is a matter of shame. He should apologise, I am not going to leave this alone."
In response to the allegations on government for not giving the clear picture of the Operation Sindoor Leader of House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda during the discussion said, "He (RS LoP Mallikarjun Kharge) is a very senior leader but the way in which he had commented on the PM...I can understand his pain. Responding to the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's intervention during his speech, LoP of Rajya Sabha Malikarjun Kharge said that PM Modi should answer all the questions raised by the Opposition. "I am asking why he (Modi) didn't condemn Trump's claim on the ceasefire. We (India) have a policy of not involving a third party in our matters.He posed several questions to PM Modi and demanded that PM Modi break his silence on the concerns raised by the opposition and demanded his presence during the debate.
During a discussion on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha, LoP Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Along with the entire country and this House, I condemn the barbaric attack (in Pahalgam) and the continuous support to terrorists by Pakistan. We had condemned Pakistan earlier too, we will condemn them today as well, and if this continues tomorrow, we will continue to condemn them. But here, we condemn them, and you attend their feast and hug them."
Kharge said that LG Manoj Sinha accepted that the Pahalgam attack was "undoubtedly a security lapse", adding that he took responsibility for the incident. Kharge said that the Home Minister should take responsibility for the attack.

What seemed to be a key opposition line of attack during the Operation Sindoor debate was blunted on Monday after three alleged terrorists, including Suleiman, believed to have led the Pahalgam massacre, were killed near Srinagar. The timing coincided with the debate in Parliament, weakening criticism over the government's failure to nab the culprits. However, SP MP Ramashankar Rajbhar still raised the issue in the House.

Home minister Amit Shah on Monday slammed Congress for not trusting Jaishankar's statement and instead believing President Trump, and said that was why it was sitting in the opposition and would remain there for 20 more years. Intervening in Lok Sabha as Opposition members interrupted Jaishankar, Shah said, "I know the importance of foreign (opinion) in their party, but it does not mean that they should impose this view on Parliament."
