New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received the phone call from his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. During their conversation, both leaders discussed ways to strengthen strategic partnership between two countries.
As per the official statement, both leaders reiterated their zero tolerance towards terrorism in all forms and manifestations. PM Modi also reaffirmed India’s support for peace in the middle-east. He also called for early implementation of the Gaza peace plan.
"Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received a telephone call from the Prime Minister of Israel, H.E. Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, today. Both leaders expressed satisfaction at the continued momentum in India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening these ties for mutual benefit," an official statement said.
Netanyahu expressed confidence that the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, which is backed by the United States would begin shortly. Notably, Hamas had expressed concern over the end of the ceasefire and blamed Israel for continued violations. They also urged mediators to ask Israel to respect the pact between two sides, News18 reported.
Netanyahu’s office had earlier said that it was in contact with the government of India to discuss new date for his visit. The Israeli PM was scheduled to visit India in December in January, but was postponed. There was, however, no official reason given behind the development.
Israel further reiterated its strong bond with India and also expressed confidence in India’s security under the leadership of PM Modi. “Israel’s bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi is very strong. The PM has full confidence in India’s security under PM Modi, and teams are already coordinating a new visit date," it said in a statement on X.
