Independent MP Pappu Yadav claims Rahul Gandhi refused the role of the Prime Minister offered by Manmohan Singh during the UPA's second term. Yadav praised Gandhi's intellect and commitment to principles, contrasting this with the 'Pappu' image.
New Delhi: Pappu Yadav, the independent MP from Bihar's Purnia, has claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declined the post of Prime Minister during the UPA government's second tenure. As per his claim, it was Rahul's rejection that allowed Manmohan Singh to continue as the PM of the UPA government.
He made the jaw-dropping revelation during an exclusive interview with ANI. He said, "Rahul Gandhi rejected the post of Prime Minister, which was offered by former PM Manmohan Singh himself." Also, he was all praise for Rahul, whom he described as a 'genius'.
Yadav told ANI about the Congress leader, "A genius boy from Harvard University, who walks 10,000 kilometres, and turns down the role of Prime Minister, believes in the principle of justice." He opined that since Rahul has such qualities, it goes against the 'Pappu' tag, which creates the impression that the Leader of Opposition in the Parliament is not really a bright person, whereas, the reality, as per Yadav, is just the opposite.
Yadav also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, "People now know that PM Modi doesn’t have a '56-inch chest' but a '5-inch chest'. The world is mocking us, saying they’ve never seen such a weak Prime Minister." He also said, "Ukraine stood up to global powers. Iran challenges the world for its self-respect, but we keep compromising. What kind of leadership is this?"
