Rajasthan: Trailer truck hits car on NH-21, 5 dead

A tragic road accident occurred on NH-21 which killed 5 people. The hook of a trailer malfunctioned and the front part of the vehicle got detached from it. This part then went and hit a car running in the opposite lane. The 5 occupants of the car did not survive. While 2 died on the spot, the others died while on way to hospital.

New Delhi: A horrific accident was reported from NH-21 on Monday, which led to the death of 5 people. The accident happened when the hook of a trailer broke and the front part of the vehicle went out of control. The vehicle went out of control and collided with a car running in the other lane, said reports.

Two people died on the spot. The locals had a hard time pulling out the occupants of the mangled car. 3 people who were injured in the accident, died while on way to the hospital in Jaipur. They were being taken to SMS Hospital in the city.

The accident happened near Kailai village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sikandra police station.

The trailer involved in the accident was going from Sikandra towards Dausa. The hook of the vehicle broke and it broke into 2 pieces. The front part of the vehicle went out of control and hit a divider. It was at this very point that a Swift Dezire car which was on way to Dausa and was in the opposite lane, was hit by the front part of the truck.

The people in the car were on their way to their village after appearing in a competitive examination in Jaipur. The accident was so severe that the car was completely damaged and 2 people died on the spot. Three of the car occupants were seriously injured in the accident.

The injured were immediately moved to Dausa Hospital, from where they were referred to Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) in Jaipur. All of them were in a critical condition. NOne of the 3 could however reach the hospital and died on the way. The deceased have been identified as Yadaram Meena, resident of Bhajeda, Monika Meena, resident of Khohri, Archana Meena, resident of Bhajeda, Vedika Meena, resident of Khohri and Mukesh Mahawar, resident of Bhajeda.

Following the incident, tensions prevailed in the area. Soon after the accident, the police and locals reached the spot and started to help pull out the injured. Those who lost their lives in the accident included 4 students, who were residents of different villages of Karauli and Mahua areas. The entire area was in a state of shock following the accident.

An atmosphere of mourning prevails in the village of the deceased and their family members are in complete disbelief.

Police start investigations

The police has registered a case against the trailer driver and started an investigation. Locals said that Yad Ram Meena, a library operator in Mahua, had gone to Jaipur along with his acquaintances who were to appear in an examination. When the group was returning home, the accident happened.
