New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received a telephone call from his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. During their talks both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination.
PM Modi and Netanyahu also spoke on a number of issues, including ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead. Apart from this, both leaders also discussed the regional situation.
Taking to X, he wrote, “Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead. We also exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination.”
The latest conversation between two leaders took place after several high-level exchanges in recent times. In December last year PM Modi and his Israeli counterpart had a virtual meeting. During this meeting, both PMs reviewed bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
Both leaders also discussed Gaza ceasefire plan. After their review, both leaders expressed their satisfaction over the progress made in the strategic partnership and agreed to more collaborations in various fields for the benefit of both nations.
Both PMs, during their discussions on Wednesday, also discussed the menace of terrorism and condemned it in all forms. Announcing the conversation, Netanyahu’s office said that discussions were also held to reschedule the latter’s visit to New Delhi. The visit was earlier planned for December last year.
The Indian embassy in Israel later called 2025 one of the “significant milestones.” It noted various high-level meetings, which were held last year.
