Bengaluru: A Redditor, who has lived in India's two major cities-- Bengaluru and Gurugram, drew comparisons between them and claimed Bengaluru was better. The user post titled, "Gurgaon vs Bangalore: My Personal Experience of Living in Both”, stirred a conversation on social media.
At the end of comparing the two cities, the Redditor said that Bengaluru's infrastructure was mush better, when compared to Gurugram. "The biggest problem is the state of roads. Potholes are everywhere, and some of them are genuinely life-threatening. What’s more shocking is that even in front of luxury apartments worth Rs 20 crores, you’ll find broken roads, garbage, and open drains,” said the user.
Addressing the lack of civic sense, the Reddit wrote, "Garbage management is poor, and there’s a foul smell in many areas. Despite being home to some of the richest people driving Porsche and Land Rovers, there’s a surprising acceptance of this mess. People don’t raise their voices, and that silence is exactly why the system continues to ignore these problems,” Another important problem was about safety and crime.
Speaking of Bengaluru, the user stated that it had its own challenges. However, credited it for the improvement.
Concluding the post, the Reddditor commented, "If I had to choose, I’d say Bangalore is way ahead of Gurgaon in terms of livability and infrastructure...Bangalore, despite its population challenges, feels more organised, safer, and citizen-driven.”
The post garnered mixed reactions on social media. They shared the different perspective in the comments. “Any individual’s experience depends on locality, commute, and transport options. Large Indian metros are all poorly planned and overpopulated....," said one.
