Don’t give up guys: Redditors mother finds love at 40; netizens elated

New Delhi: A Redditor took to the social forum to share that her mother found love in her 40s. She also encouraged others to keep looking for love. Netizens also rooted for the mother. 

In the post, the Redditor told netizens about her mother's sacrifice after her divorce. "I have great news to share – my mum has finally found the love of her life. Don’t give up, guys. I’m happy." The user stated that her mother prioritised raising her after her failed relationship. 

"She raised me single-handedly, keeping her own happiness in the backseat for me,” wrote the man. Further, the young user revealed that her mother fell in love with a colleague younger to her. "He is in his early 30s while she is in her late 40s. At first, I thought he looked like a playboy. I was concerned about where this was going. But after some background checks, I didn’t find anything worrying,” said the user. She revealed that he proposed to her mother during an office trip. Subsequently, the mother asked the man to seek for her daughter's approval. 

"He came home to talk to me. He said he loved her and asked if I would accept him as family. I asked him if his family would accept her. He explained that he is an only child, his parents have passed away, and his relatives don’t play a role in his life. He wanted this to work, and I had no reason to say no,” said the Redditor.

She concluded, "I’m settled in my life. It’s all because of my mum. She deserves happiness, too. I told him I’d support whatever makes her happy. My mum is happy now, and I can’t wait for them to be together.”

Netizens joined in to celebrate the Redditor's happiness. While many congratulated her, others stated their scepticism in regards to the age difference. One wrote, "I hope she and her partner are the end game and stay happy."
