New Delhi: Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has set a heartwarming example by extending financial support to a poor student from Karnataka's Bagalkote district. Pant donated Rs 40,000 to Jyoti Kanabur, enabling her to enroll in a BCA course and continue her higher education.
Jyoti a resident of Rabakavi village in Bilagi taluk had previously worked in the fields to support her own education. Her parents Teerthayya and Roopa have four kids, with Jyoti being the youngest. Her father runs a small eatery in the village while her brothers work as daily wage labourers in nearby fields.
Jyoti overcomes all odds
Overcoming all the odds, Jyoti secured 85 per cent marks in her Pre-University Commerce exams.
Based on her marks, she secured a seat at the B.L.D.E College in Jamkhandi for BCA. But the poor family was unable to pay the admission fee of Rs 40,000. After which her father reached out to a local resident Anil Hunasikatti for help. Anil, in turn, shared the issue with his friend Akshay Nayak, who turned out to be Rishabh Pant's digital manager.
He shared Jyoti's plight with Pant, who responding immediately transferred the full amount directly to the college. The money would cover her first-year fees.
