Speeding truck rams vehicles on Indore airport road; one dead, several injured

New Delhi: A speeding truck caused havoc on Indore’s Airport Road after colliding with multiple vehicles on Monday. The accident left several people seriously injured and claimed the life of one individual. According to initial reports, the truck driver lost control and rammed into as many as seven vehicles. Two people sustained critical injuries, while others were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
In the aftermath, the enraged crowd set the out-of-control truck on fire. Fire department teams arrived promptly at the scene and brought the blaze under control. Additional DCP Alok Sharma reached the accident site and is overseeing the situation. Authorities are still gathering details to confirm the exact number of injured and deceased in the tragic incident.
Eyewitnesses feared that the number of casualties could be higher.
Speaking to reporters, local resident Subhsha Soni said, "The truck driver was driving rashly. Its tyres caught fire, and as it rammed into other vehicles, people started falling. My brother-in-law’s legs were crushed. He was taken to Geetanjali Hospital.”
Zone-1 DCP Krishna Lalchandani told ANI that the driver was heavily intoxicated and lost control of the truck, leading to the tragedy. "The driver has been taken into custody and sent for a medical examination,” he added.
