Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate the Tamil Nadu Global Women's Summit at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, today, January 27, 2026. Organized by the Tamil Nadu Women’s Employment and Safety (TNWESafe) scheme, the two-day summit aims to forge robust pathways for the social and economic empowerment of women across the state, enhancing their participation in the formal workforce.

The summit represents a core initiative of the state government’s efforts to build systems that help women secure, retain, and return to employment across all sectors. With participation from over 500 stakeholders—including global bodies like the World Bank, UN Women, and UNDP, alongside industry leaders, academics, and civil society—the event will feature expert sessions across 11 critical themes. More than 70 distinguished personalities are slated to speak, with discussions designed to shape actionable, state-level implementation plans for the TNWESafe project.

Stakeholders and Outcomes: Launching a State-Wide Campaign for Women's Livelihoods

Key participants include Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, World Bank Regional Director Cem Mete, UN Women India Representative Ms. Kanta Singh, and UNDP India Representative Ms. Angela Lusigi.

The closing ceremony on January 28, chaired by Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, will witness the launch of a major state-level campaign dedicated to supporting women in gaining skill development and formal employment opportunities.
