Tej Pratap Yadav alleges death threats, seeks security from Bihar government
Janshakti Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav alleged that he received death threats from expelled spokesperson of his party, Santosh Renu Yadav. He alleged that Renu had been continuously threatening him on social media and demanded protection from the Bihar government. He has written to Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary asking for police protection. The state government is yet to decide on his demand.
New Delhi: Leader of Janshakti Janata Dal and former Bihar Minister, Tej Pratap Yadav has appealed for enhanced security cover after allegedly receiving death threats. The leader claimed that he had been threatened by a former party colleague, who was expelled from the party. He alleged that expelled national spokesperson Santosh Renu Yadav threatened to kill him.
Yadav approaches Deputy Bihar CM for security
Tej Pratap Yadav approached Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary asking for enhanced security, following the threat from Santosh Renu Yadav. Notably he had lost the recent Assembly Elections in the state, from Mahua seat.
Chaudhary confirmed receiving Yadav's letter. The Deputy CM of the state was quoted by PTI as saying, "Yes, I have received his letter... The matter is being examined."
The elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav had also approached the police after being threatened by his former party colleague. This was confirmed by the Sachivalay police station SHO Gautam Kumar. He said that an FIR had also been registered in the matter and an investigation is on in the case.
In his complaint, Yadav alleged that the JJD appointed Renu as its national spokesperson, but later on he allegedly started working against the party's ideology. He also accused him of taking money from party workers and promised them jobs in return. After discovering his antics, the party expelled him on December 14.
The former Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister in the Bihar government alleged that after the expulsion, Renu started threatening and abusing him on social media.
So far Renu has not responded publicly to the allegations.
One must note that Tej Pratap was himself expelled from his father's party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal. Lalu Prasad Yadav also disowned his son publicly, after a post on Tej Pratap Yadav's Facebook page. In this post, Tej Pratap was seen with a woman, later identified as Anushka. He had reportedly claimed to have been in a relationship with the woman.
Later however, Tej Pratap Yadav claimed that his Facebook page was hacked.
Despite his explanation, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled him from the party, for his "irresponsible behaviour."
Following his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap Yadav had claimed that there was an alleged conspiracy to drive a wedge in the relationship between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. He had blamed the crisis on traitors without naming anyone.
