Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday demanded an apology from AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan over his ‘evil eye’ remark on Telangana.
“I am saying this as a cinematography minister. It’s been 13 years since Telangana state was formed. At this time, I ask Pawan Kalyan to unconditionally and immediately apologise to the people of Telangana. Insulting us will not be tolerated.”
“If he apologizes, his movies will run in Telangana for at least one or two days. Otherwise, we will not allow his movies to run in Telangana,” he said.
What did Pawan Kalyan say?
Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan has recently said that Telangana’s ‘evil eye’ has affected the coconut plantations in Konaseema district. “The reason for the bifurcation was the greenery of Godavari district. Telangana leaders say that our coconut trees are the greenest. Today our coconut trees are dying and that is the level of evil eye on Konaseema,” he said at a press conference on November 26.
Political reactions:
Other Congress leaders such as MP Chamala Kiran Reddy, MLA J. Anirudh Reddy also demanded an unconditional apology, questioning why Kalyan lives and invests in Hyderabad if he views the state so negatively.
BRS leader KT Rama Rao has also slammed the comment saying that it is irresponsible and baseless.
Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated in June 2014 through AP Reorganisation Act that split the state into Telangana and the residuary AP.
