Child trafficking racket busted in Hyderabad; 20 arrested

Transactions worth Rs 15 lakh is said to be behind the sale of each child.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police’s Special Operation Team (SOT) has busted a child trafficking racket, in which abducted children were sold in the city, Tv9 Telugu reported.

At least 15 children including two infants were put up for sale in Hyderabad for Rs 9 lakh, the police said. Transactions worth Rs 15 lakh is said to be behind the sale of each child, reports said.

20 members of a gang arrested:

About 20 members of a gang, including eight women and three men, have been arrested and several cases against them have been identified in Mumbai, Miyapur police told the media.

The gang was involved in kidnapping children from Miyapur, Kukatpally, Alwyn Colony, BHEL, and Jagadgirigutta areas of the city and also trafficked children from other parts of the country. The police shifted the kidnapped children to a rescue home. 

Miyapur police apprehended them as they were getting off a bus near the Miyapur Metro station. It was identified that the accused arrested in the Srishti fertility clinic case were also a part of this gang. The accused who were arrested in the Srishti case and released on bail a few days ago were among them.
