Cold wave grips Telangana; Sangareddy records coldest morning of the season

Hyderabad: Massive cold wave has gripped the city and all districts of Telangana over the weekend as Sangareddy recorded the lowest temperature of the season so far.

In north Telangana, Sangareddy, Asifabad districts recorded the lowest temperature of 6.6°C while Adilabad recorded 6.8°C, Vikarabad 7.8°C, Kamareddy 8.2°C, Nizamabad 8.4°C, Medak 8.4°C, Rangareddy 8.4°C, Siddipet 8.9°C, Nirmal 9.0°C, Sircilla 9.2°C, as per Telangana Development Planning Society data said.

In Hyderabad, HCU Serilingampally area recorded the lowest temperature with 9°C followed by BHEL (10.6°C), Rajendranagar (10.7°C), Gachibowli (11°C), Sivarampalle (12.4°C), Thattiannaram (12.4°C), Macha Bollaram (13.1°C), Alwal (13.2°C), Jeedimetla (13.3°C), Qutbullapur (13.4°C), Kukatpally (13.5°C), Begumpet (13.6°C).

How long will the cold wave last?

The cold wave is expected to last through December 7-13, according to local weather blogger T Balaji. Morning temperatures are expected to dip to 6-9°C in many districts and others are expected to record about 9-12°C. The peak of the cold wave is expected to be between December 10-13.

As per India Meteorological Department, minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 3°C to 4°C at some places over the next 2-3 days.

In Hyderabad, misty, hazy conditions will prevail in the morning, night hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31°C and 13°C. Surface winds are likely to be northerlies/north-easterlies with wind speed of 4-6 kmph.
