Heavy rain, intense thunderstorms alert for five districts in Telangana

Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad. Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds Mancherial, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, districts between September 10-11, IMD said in its forecast.

Medak is likely to receive moderate to heavy rain along with heavy thunderstorms during the next 2-3 hours on Wednesday, the forecast said. Scattered heavy thunderstorms can be expected in various parts of North, Central, South Telangana districts like Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Yadadri - Bhongir, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Nirmal, Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Mulugu, Bhadradri, Hanmakonda during late afternoon to overnight, weather forecaster T Balaji said.

Heavy rain will likely continue in several districts over the next five days.

Andhra Pradesh weather forecast:

On Tuesday, rains lashed Guntur, Alluri Seetharamaraju, East Godavari, Bapatla and Vizianagaram districts. The highest rainfall was recorded in Nallapadu in Guntur district at 71.5 mm followed by Kakumanu with 52 mm and Naguluppalapadu in Prakasam district at 48.5 mm.

On Wednesday, winds of 40 to 60 km per hour may blow along the coast and fishermen should stay away from the sea,  MD Prakhar Jain of the Disaster Management Agency said.

A surface depression is continuing along the north coast and south Odisha coasts in the Bay of Bengal, and a trough is continuing from Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar across Tamil Nadu. Due to this, heavy rains accompanied by thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in the coastal districts over the next four days, said the officials of the Amaravati Meteorological Center.
