Heavy rain lashes Medak district; floodwater inundates low lying areas
Rain inundated roads in several areas in Medak including Ramdas Chowrasta, Gandhinagar and Brindavan Colony, causing severe traffic jam.
Very heavy rain lashed Medak district on Thursday, recording about 176.5 mm rainfall from 8.30 am to 3 pm, Telangana Development Planning Society data showed.
Daily life was thrown out of gear as rain inundated roads in several areas including Ramdas Chowrasta, Gandhinagar and Brindavan Colony, causing severe traffic jam.

Ghattu mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district recorded 88.2 mm rainfall between Wednesday morning and Thursday followed by Perur in Mulugu (85 mm), Mudhole in Nirmal (79.6 mm), Utnur in Adilabad (75.4 mm), Gundala in Bhadradri Kothagudem district (75 mm).

Rain also lashed Yadadri Bhuvangiri and Rangareddy districts and heavy downpour is likely in parts of Medak, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Vikarabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar, Kamareddy between September 11-12, India Meteorological Department said. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph)is likely in some places in all districts of Telangana.
Similar conditions are expected to prevail on several of the above mentioned districts over the next few days.
Multiple spells of storms and rain is likely in some parts of Hyderabad on Thursday and sudden heavy rain is expected, weather blogger T Balaji said in a post on X.
Southern GHMC zones (LB Nagar, Champapet, Uppal, Hayathnagar side) are likely to receive moderate rainfall. Central Hyderabad (Abids, Secunderabad, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Kukatpally) is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Northwest and north GHMC zones are relatively clear, with only scattered light activity. Rainfall is moving from the south and southeast towards central Hyderabad, K Nagaratna, head of IMD Hyderabad said.
