Major reforms in Intermediate education approved by Telangana government
The changes in intermediate education will be implemented from academic year 2026-27.
Hyderabad: Telangana government has approved of major sweeping reforms in Intermediate education in the state and will be implemented from academic year 2026-27, reports said.
The key changes include practical exams for Intermediate first year BiPC and MPC students. This is a change from the existing system, where only second year students take practical exams.
A new 80:20 evaluation pattern will be employed for all subjects, with 80 percent weightage given to written exams while 20 percent weightage will be given for internal assessments. Earlier, internals were limited to only English.
The syllabus for MPC subjects – Maths, Physics, Chemistry will be reduced to align with NCERT standards. A new stream AEC – Accounts, Economics, Commerce will be introduced to expand choices.
Authorities said that the changes are being brought in to make intermediate education more student friendly and practical-oriented.
