Hyderabad: BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruti President Kalavakuntla Kavitha teared up while making a speech in Telangana Legislative Council on Monday, January 5.
Seeking acceptance of her resignation, Kavitha made serious allegations against BRS in the council. She stated that massive corruption took place during the BRS tenure in the construction of the new Secretariat, the Ambedkar statue and new collectorate buildings.
“No matter what responsibility I was given in BRS, I worked wholeheartedly. The party insulted me badly. The leaders did not stand by me while fighting with ED and CBI. BJP put me in jail because of their dislike of KCR. My fight is for my self-respect, not to accumulate wealth. I swear by my god and my two sons,” she said.
Was against changing name from TRS to BRS:
Kavitha further said that she was against changing the name of TRS to BRS and that she was humiliated for questioning the party.
The MLC on her last day in the council stated that there is no internal democracy in the BRS. She said that she is leaving the house as an individual, but will enter the legislature again as a force.
The speech highlights the ongoing rift in the BRS as she said that individuals in the party conspired to sideline her within the party and BRS media ecosystem carried out a smear campaign against her.
Legislative Council chairman rejects Kavitha's resignation:
Meanwhile, Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy did not accept Kavitha's resignation. The chairman said that Kavita had taken the decision to resign due to emotional reasons and suggested to reconsider it. Kavita rejected the suggestion and reiterated that there is no reconsideration of the resignation. She asked to accept her resignation.
