Hyderabad: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy launched the scheme to distribute one crore sarees for one crore women at Necklace Road, to honour the women of Telangana on Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
The scheme seeks to distribute 65 lakh sarees to women in rural areas till December 9. Distribution in urban areas will be conducted from March 1-8.
“You don’t need to worry, every eligible woman will get her saree. This is our pride. Our women ministers, MLAs, corporation chairpersons & Mahila Congress leaders should proudly wear the sarees given by the government,” Revanth Reddy said while speaking at the launch.
He further said, “We have undertaken programs for the welfare of women as well as economic upliftment. We are granting Indiramma houses in the name of girl children and have given due priority to women in politics as well. The government is working with the aim of making one crore girl children millionaires.”
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Vakiti Srihari, Konda Surekha, and Seethakka participated in the program.
