Hyderabad: Temperatures have plummeted over the weekend across the state and minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in some places in North Telangana and in Hyderabad over the next two days, India Meteorological Department said.
In Hyderabad, partly cloudy sky and misty, hazy conditions are likely to prevail in the morning hours. Minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be 15 and 29 degrees Celsius respectively. Surface winds are likely to be northerlies/north-easterlies with wind speed of around 4-6 kmph.
Temperatures dropped in many places over the weekend including Patancheru, which recorded a 3.6 degree decrease to 13.2 degrees Celsius while the normal minimum temperature was to be recorded at 16.8 degrees. In Adilabad, the temperature decreased by 1.5 degrees to 14.2, in Medak by 3.5 degrees to 14.1, in Hayatnagar by 1.2 degrees to 15.6, in Hanumakonda by 4.2 degrees to 16, and in Hyderabad by 1.6 degrees to 16.9 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures also dropped. On Sunday, Ramgundam recorded a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees lower than normal. Nizamabad recorded a decrease of 1.7 degrees to 30.2 and Hyderabad decreased by 1.3 degrees to 29.2 degrees Celsius.
As per weather blogger T Balaji, several districts in North Telangana will witness single digit temperatures including in Adilabad, Asifabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Vikarabad between November 11-19 and temperatures may peak between November 13-17.
Hyderabad may witness 11-14 degrees Celsius in the mornings between November 11-19.
In view of the increasing severity of the cold, people are warned to be vigilant, especially the elderly, children and those with chronic health problems, as they are at risk of falling ill quickly.
