Winter session of Telangana Assembly to be convened from Dec 29 over water disputes

Hyderabad: The winter session of Telangana Legislative Assembly will be reportedly convened from December 29, as per the decision of CM Revanth Reddy, Tv9 telugu reported.

The session will be held especially to debate on how the state’s interests were allegedly compromised in Krishna, Godavari river water sharing during the BRS tenure.

Informal cabinet meeting on Irrigation projects:

In an informal meeting held with the cabinet at the Command Control Centre on Monday evening, the CM held a wide-ranging discussion on state irrigation projects, the situation in the Krishna-Godavari basins, and the comments made by former CM KCR regarding the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project.

There are indications that the Assembly sessions will be held from December 29 to extensively discuss the issues related to Krishna and Godavari river waters. It is reported that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy intends to have a comprehensive discussion in the Assembly on all aspects, including the projects, water allocation, works undertaken after the state bifurcation, and expenditures.

‘KCR trying to inflame Telangana sentiment’: CM Revanth Reddy

Revanth Reddy reportedly told ministers that former CM KCR was attempting to revive the BRS in the state by inflaming Telangana sentiment under the guise of water disputes. With the BRS losing elections in 2023, in the recent Jubilee Hills bypoll and gram panchayat polls, the party was making a last-ditch effort to regain relevance, the CM reportedly told ministers.

He reportedly asked ministers to be prepared for a fact-based debate in the Assembly to expose the BRS’ alleged failure to complete even a single project in Krishna river in a decade and the collapse of Kaleshwaram project.
