‘This is exploitation, not success’: Raghav Chadha highlights delivery agents’ plight

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha Member of the Parliament Raghav Chadha on Tuesday shared a post showing how a Blinkit delivery boy works for 15 hours a day and earns only Rs 763. Through his post, Chadha tried to speak on the struggle that delivery boys face in their day-to-day lives.

Sharing a post on X, he wrote, “This is not a ‘gig economy success story’. This is systemic exploitation hidden behind apps & algorithms,” Chadha wrote on X. The MP further added that he raised the issue in the Parliament too.

‘Low pay, crushing targets’

“Low pay, crushing targets, no job security, no dignity for gig workers. This Blinkit case only confirms what millions live every day,” the MP further noted. He added that India won’t be able to build a digital economy “on the backs of underpaid, overworked human beings. Fair wages, humane hours and social security for gig workers are non-negotiable.”

Raghav Chadha’s post earns several reactions online

His post earned several reactions online. One of them said, “If you remove petrol charges, Food/drink cost, bike maintenance cost, then effectively his earnings won't exceed 200₹. In the long term, his health will suffer. The exploitation of workers reached its peak. Labour laws are only on paper and that too it favours rich people only.”
