Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's bizarre behaviour has once again come to light. In a video that has gone viral, Kumar can be seen attempting to remove the hijab from the face of a Muslim woman, who was wearing a burqa.

The incident took place during the distribution of appointment letters to newly appointed AYUSH doctors. When a Muslim woman, AYUSH doctor Nusrat Parveen, approached Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to receive her appointment letter, the latter attempted to remove the hijab from her face before handing over the letter.

Congress slams Nitish Kumar’s action

The matter was widely criticised by Opposition parties. Sharing the video on its X handle, the Congress wrote, “This is Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar. Look at his shamelessness – when a female doctor came to collect her appointment letter, Nitish Kumar pulled off her hijab.”

“The man holding the highest office in Bihar is publicly committing such a despicable act. Imagine how safe women must feel in the state? Nitish Kumar should immediately resign for this vile act. This depravity is unforgivable,” it added. 

Various bizarre incidents in recent past

In recent times, the chief minister was in the news for various bizarre incidents. In March this year, the chief minister was seen putting his arm around the shoulder of a woman at a function. He also tried to touch another woman at another event. On January 30 this year, he started clapping soon after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of the latter’s martyr's day.
