Tinder date turns into nightmare: Mumbai man stripped, tortured and forced to pay lakhs

A gang in Mira Bhayander used a fake Tinder profile to trap and extort Rs 3.5 lakh from a man after luring him to a house. The Anti Extortion Cell has arrested five accused, including a woman, in the case.

Mumbai: Cyber crimes are increasing every day and another case has come to light from Mumbai. A gang that used Tinder dating app to trap and loot people has been busted by anti-extortion cell of Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police. 

The police have arrested five people, including a woman, in this case. The accused have been identified as Sagar Rawal, Rishabh Shinde, Paaji, Sonu Sheikh, and a woman whose name has not been revealed.

The case is related to a resident of Mira Bhayander who became friends with a woman through the Tinder app. Unknown to him, the account was actually being operated by Sagar Rawal, who used the woman’s identity to chat and gain the man’s trust.

One day, during a chat, Sagar invited the man to a coffee shop. There, he introduced him to the woman from their gang. The woman told the man that no one was home and offered to give him a good massage. Trusting her words, the victim went to her house.

As soon as the man entered the room, the woman asked him to remove his clothes. The moment he did, four other accused barged into the room and started threatening him. They said they would make his video viral if he didn’t pay Rs 10 lakh. 

Not only did they threaten him, but they also tied him up, beat him, and forced him to sell the gold chain he was wearing. In total, they extorted Rs 3.5 lakh from the man.

After the traumatic incident, the victim filed a complaint with the police. The Anti Extortion Cell began its investigation and soon arrested Sagar Rawal and Rishabh Shinde. Based on their statements, the rest of the gang members were also arrested.
