Uttar Pradesh shocker: 11-year-old raped by married man, gives birth, child dies

New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly an 11-year-old girl who was raped repeatedly and blackmailed into keeping the matter under wraps, gave birth to a pre-mature baby. Soon after being born, the child died, said the police. The infant was born in just 7 months of pregnancy and died soon after.

The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man, identified as Rashid for the crime. The father of 2 is the main accused in the case. He is accused of repeatedly raping the 11-year-old and then blackmailing her into keeping quiet about it and also continuing the sexual relationship.

The accused was arrested on Saturday.

The police said that an FIR was registered against Rashid on Friday and he was arrested the very next day. According to a report in NDTV, the police had taken the baby's DNA sample to match with Rashid's DNA.

The survivor's elder brother said that Rashid lured the girl with a fruit to his house, some 6-7 months back. There he raped the 11-year-old. The brother said that after the sexual encounter, Rashid threatened the girl saying that he would kill her entire family if she told anyone about the rape. He had also made a video of the first sexual encounter and used it to blackmail her into having multiple sexual encounters.

The girl's family discovered her pregnancy on Thursday, when she complained of persistent stomach ache. When her family took her to a government hospital, they were told that the child was 7 months pregnant. The girl was then taken to District Government Hospital, where she delivered the child.

The child however died soon after. Even the girl was in a critical condition due to blood loss and her young age. However now she is stable and is expected to survive, NDTV quoted District Women's Hospital CMS Dr Tribhuvan Prasad as saying.
