Dehradun: Dry weather conditions are pushing up temperatures across Uttarakhand. Bright sunshine during the day has made the plains warmer, while mornings and evenings remain cold. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the dry spell will continue today, but a change in weather is expected in the mountains tomorrow.

On Tuesday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 25.2°C, which is 6.5 degrees above normal, and a minimum of 7.9°C, one degree above normal. Udham Singh Nagar also saw warmer conditions, with a maximum of 24.4°C and a minimum of 4.6°C.

Temp showed a warming trend in hills

In the hill stations, temperatures remained lower but still showed a warming trend. Mukteshwar recorded 15.5°C maximum and 1.9°C minimum, while New Tehri reported 15.1°C maximum and 3.3°C minimum. The Meteorological Department noted that the dry weather has led to mild warmth even in the mountainous regions.

A yellow alert for frost has been issued in some hilly areas, warning farmers and residents to take precautions. Frost can damage crops and affect daily life in villages located at higher altitudes.

Weather will remain dry across most districts

According to the forecast, the weather will remain dry across most districts today. However, on Thursday, light rain is expected in parts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Areas above 2,800 meters altitude may witness light snowfall.

The Meteorological Center explained that while the plains will continue to experience sunny and warm days, the higher Himalayan regions could see a brief spell of rain and snow. This change is likely to bring relief to farmers and residents who have been facing dry conditions for several weeks.
