Dehradun: The monsoon season is getting ready to say goodbye to Uttarakhand. But before it leaves, some parts of the hilly regions may still receive light rain or thundershowers.
According to the Meteorological Center, the weather will stay mostly clear in the state until September 23. However, very light to light rain may occur in a few districts today.

Light rains in Dehradun and Nainital
These districts include Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, and Nainital. People living in these areas may see some clouds in the sky along with short spells of rain. In the rest of the districts of Uttarakhand, the weather is expected to remain dry and sunny.
Temp rises in Dehradun
On Sunday, Dehradun experienced bright sunshine from early morning. The maximum temperature went up to around 33 degrees Celsius, which is about three degrees higher than normal. This temperature rise is being felt after the rains stopped over the past two days. People are now beginning to feel the heat again, especially in the plains.
Monsoon has become week in the state
The Meteorological Center has said that the monsoon has become weak in the state. The process of monsoon withdrawal has already started in nearby Himachal Pradesh, and it is expected to leave Uttarakhand in about a week. This means the rainy season will end soon, and cooler days will begin.
Until then, the weather will stay mostly clear, but occasional cloud cover may give temporary relief from the heat. The hilly districts may also receive light showers or thundershowers before the monsoon completely withdraws.
On Sunday, partly cloudy skies were seen in some hilly areas. Despite this, no heavy rain was reported from anywhere. The sunshine helped dry out the wet conditions from the last few weeks of rainfall.
Temp in Uttarakhand will drop after the rain stops
Uttarakhand is in the final stage of the monsoon season. The weather will be mostly dry with sunshine in many parts of the state. However, light rain is still expected in some mountain districts before the monsoon finally departs. The people of Uttarakhand can expect cooler weather soon as the rainy season comes to a close.
According to experts, after the monsoon ends, the temperatures in the hill stations and plains will begin to drop. Nights will become cooler, especially in the higher altitudes. People are advised to stay updated with daily weather reports, especially if they are planning to travel to the hills.
Dry days will help in the harvesting process
Farmers are also keeping an eye on the weather, as the end of the monsoon marks an important time for crop management. The coming dry days will help in the harvesting process, but sudden rain in the hills can still cause minor disruptions.
