New Delhi: Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Monday shared details of the IndiGo crisis in the Parliament and said that the crisis in flight operations is due to the problem in crew roster and internal planning. He added that there would be no compromise on that front and strict action would be taken.
"The crisis took place because of problems in its crew rostering as well as internal planning systems. The airline was supposed to manage crew rosters through daily operations. The government is ensuring that the FDTL is implemented properly. There has been no compromise on that front," Naidu said while speaking in the Rajya Sabha.
He added, “"If there is any mis-compliance, non-compliance, non-adherence for any single person, entity and organisation, or any operator functioning in this civil aviation, we will take very, very strict action so that we set an example in the industry.”
Meanwhile, amid the ongoing crisis at airports across the country , the airline issued a statement saying that the CMG, which was formed on December 4, meets every day to monitor the situation.
While the board is meeting regularly to ensure swift action, the top priority of the CMG includes restoring 100% of IndiGo’s operational capacity, providing updates to passengers on a timely basis, fast-tracking refunds, and rescheduling requests, among others.
With the steps taken by IndiGo, passengers who are affected by cancellations or delays of flights can expect faster resolution of problems, including the return of baggage and return of tickets. In its statement, the IndiGo stressed that the newly formed CMG is fully committed to resolving the disruption and helping the airline to return to normal operations at the earliest. It also urged customers to stay updated through official channels to get the latest updates on flight schedules and assistance.
