Superstar footballer Lionel Messi's recent India tour kicked off with his visit to Kolkata, but it was marred by chaos. Law and order broke down at the city's Salt Lake Stadium as Messi's brief visit to the City of Joy as part of the India Goat Tour 2025 became messy. Messi was supposed to greet the fans for a considerable time, but scores of common people in the stadium failed to catch even a glimpse of him, and the situation became a nightmare.
Messi was supposed to take a tour of the entire stadium with fans waiting to see him, but spent merely 22 minutes before moving out as disorder ensued. Angry fans, who had failed to see their idol even after buying tickets worth thousands, threw water bottles, broke chairs, and vandalised the stadium.
