New Delhi: Karnataka’s premier luxury train, The Golden Chariot, offers a regal travel experience through South India. Operated by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation-IRCTC in collaboration with the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation-KSTDC, The Golden Chariot is once again in the spotlight as plans are underway to expand its routes and include more iconic destinations. The train offers travellers a royal experience on wheels, complete with heritage, comfort, and curated sightseeing.
Since its relaunch post-pandemic, The Golden Chariot has drawn both domestic and international travellers seeking slow and experiential tourism. With renewed focus on promoting South India’s cultural and natural heritage, new routes and packages are now being added to enhance the journey experience. Find out more.
1. Route coverage
The Golden Chariot connects major tourist destinations across Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, depending on the chosen itinerary.
2. Available packages
Travellers can opt for three luxury circuits, such as Pride of Karnataka, Jewels of South, and Glimpses of Karnataka, with trips ranging from four to seven days.
3. Design inspiration
Reflecting the Dravidian cultural heritage, the train’s interiors feature royal wooden décor and intricate carvings reminiscent of South India’s palaces.
4. Luxury amenities
Onboard offerings include an Ayurvedic spa, two fine-dining restaurants, a gym, and a conference hall for corporate travellers.
5. Accommodation
The 18-coach train features 44 deluxe cabins with private washrooms, accommodating up to 84 guests in total.
