1. Gram flour with curd or lemon
Gram flour or besan can be used as a scrub for the face or the entire body. The coarse nature of the flour particles makes it one of the best natural ingredients to brighten the skin. It will give better results if mixed with warm milk or lemon juice, or curd. Apply the paste to your face and leave it for 20 minutes. Once dry, rinse it off with water.
2. Turmeric with honey or milk
Turmeric or haldi is the timeless ingredient with medicinal properties. It is effective for reducing skin tan and bringing out the natural glow. You can use turmeric powder simply with cold water, honey and milk and apply the thick paste over your face. Do not leave it for a very long time to avoid a yellow stain on your skin. Rinse it off with cool water.
3. Lemon with tomato
A combination of lemon and tomato juice is effective to bleach your face naturally within a week. You can squeeze lemon into a bowl with tomato juice. Adding rose water is optional to get softer skin. Dab it over your face with cotton balls. Let it settle for 15 to 20 minutes before you wash it away.
4. Aloe vera juice
Aloe Vera is known to have multiple beauty benefits. It not only reduces blemishes of the skin but also soothes the skin with its cooling agent. Thus, it hastens the process of regenerating dead cells and tissues. Skin gets a natural glow.
5. Honey and milk or essential oil
Honey, if mixed with powdered milk or essential oil like almond oil, treats dryness and uneven skin tone and moisturises the skin. Subsequently, it brings a natural glow to your face. After applying the mixture, let it settle for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and exfoliate your face.
6. Tomato, cucumber and potato
Potatoes and cucumbers are known for bleaching characteristics, and tomatoes act as a natural astringent, which tightens the pores of the skin. Take 2 tablespoons of potato, cucumber and potato juice together in a bowl. Apply it to the dark spots regularly. They will lighten over time.
7. Oatmeal and yoghurt
Fresh yoghurt lightens the skin while oatmeal can be used to exfoliate. Take 2 tablespoons of oatmeal powder and add one tablespoon of fresh yoghurt. Add essential oils to the mixture. Apply the thick paste to your face and allow it to settle for around 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water.
You may be allergic to some ingredients. So, don’t forget to test these on your hand before applying them to the face or the body. As home-made beauty remedies are time-consuming, you need to be patient and start the process in advance. Enjoy the festive season.
