The IPL 2025 saw a new winner in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who ended their title drought of 18 years with a thrilling win over Punjab Kings (PBKS). Virat Kohli finally claimed the silverware that was missing from his glittering trophy cabinet as IPL got its new champion.

Apart from the Orange and the Purple cap, there is an award in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is given to the player who has the most significant impact throughout the season. It is known as the Most Valuable Player of the Season award. It is determined using a points system. According to the points system, every four hit is equal to 2.5 points, every six hit and wicket taken is considered as 3.5 points each. Every dot ball bowled is worth 1 point.

Every catch taken and stumping done gets 2.5 points each. Unlike the other awards that focus solely on runs or wickets, the MVP award considers factors like strike rate, economy rate, boundaries, and wickets taken, ensuring that both batsmen and bowlers have an equal chance of winning. Over the years, the MVP has been awarded to some of the biggest names in cricket. Virat Kohli won the award in 2016 for his all-time season of 973 runs in 16 innings. Harshal Patel won it in the 2021 season by grabbing 32 wickets in the entire season. Let's have a look at all the winners of this award over the years.
