BCCI to announce Indias T20I squad for South Africa series on Wednesday - Report

India's squad for the T20I series against South Africa is set to be released on Wednesday by the BCCI, as per a report.

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce India's squad for the T20I series against South Africa on Wednesday. As per a report in Sports Today on Tuesday, it was mentioned that the BCCI is planning to release the T20I squad on December 3, when India face South Africa in second ODI match in Raipur.

After the culmination of the three-match ODI series on December 6 in Vishakhapatnam, both the sides would lock horns in a five-match T20I series beginning with the first game in Cuttack on December 9. The update also mentions that flamboyant all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has started playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) tournament, will join the side in Cuttack on the day of the final ODI of the series.

Focus on Gill, Hardik's return

Meanwhile, the entire focus will be on the return of flamboyant all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill in the series. While Hardik would be joining the squad after a long injury layoff, Gill, who picked up an injury in the first Test match against South Africa, is expected make his way back into the team. Apart from this, some major announcements are also expected to be made when while the squad would be announced.

Team India started off the series on a disappointing note after going down cheaply in the two Tests 0-2 but the side bounced back well in the ODI series starting off with a win. Virat Kohli starred with a century while former skipper Rohit Sharma notched up a fine half-century as India accumulated a huge total on the board batting first. Though the Proteas fought well but at the end succumbed giving away in the fight to chase a mammoth score.

India would be aiming to make a mark in the remaining two ODIs as well as the 5-game T20I series at home, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup in couple of months.
