Big boost for Australia as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood hit the nets ahead of pink-ball Test

In what comes a major boost for the Australia side in the Ashes series, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood were spotted in the nets ahead of the pink-ball Test.

New Delhi: In what comes a major boost for the Australia side in the Ashes series, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood were spotted in the nets ahead of the pink-ball Test. Both the players were spotted practicing with the pink ball after missing the opening Test match of the series.

The second Test match of the five-game series will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane with the pink ball from December 4 to 8. Cummins and Hazlewood missed the first Test match at Perth last week due to respective injuries. But with both of them returning to the nets and almost 10 days remaining in the game, this comes as a big positive news for the hosts.

In the absence of both the players, Brendan Doggett and Scott Boland played in the series opener at the Optus stadium claiming three and four wickets respectively in the second innings. If Cummins makes a return to the day/night Test match, he will take up the leadership responsibility from Steve Smith, who captained the team in the series opener.

Meanwhile, Australia put up a brilliant effort in the first Test match at Perth claiming a victory inside two days. It was Starc who led the bowling attack for the Aussies with brilliant figures of 7 for 58 in the first innings and also picked up 3 for 55 in the second innings to claim a total for 10 wickets in the match. the legendary left-arm pacer bagged the Player Of The Match award.

Meanwhile in the second Test, Mitchell Starc would like to maintain his brilliant form and produce another sensational show. If he manages to claim three wickets in the Brisbane Test match, he will break Wasim Akram's record of 414 wickets to become the most successful left-arm fast bowler in the history of Test cricket.

Akram claimed a total of 414 wickets in 104 Test matches whereas Starc has 402 wickets to his credit in 101 Test matches he has represented Australia in.
