New Delhi: Pakistan skipper Salman Agha suffered a neck spasm during the training ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman. Pakistan lock horns with Oman in their first match and the captain's neck stiffness has cast a certain doubt over his participation in the first group clash of the continental tournament.
The team management however feels that the skipper would be fit to lead the side in the Asia Cup matches starting Friday but since Agha missed a major part of the training session ahead of the game, a cloud of uncertainty looms over his participation. The dashing all-rounder was also sporting a bandage after complaining of severe neck pain during the training session at the ICC academy.
Agha skipped warm-ups, drills
As per a report in Geo News, Agha travelled with the squad but skipped the warm-ups and football drills ahead of the rigorous match practice sessions. The rest of the players were seen going through a complete fitness routine followed by the match practice sessions. Meanwhile, Agha's limited participation has given rise to a lot of speculations especially ahead of the high-octane clash against arch-rivals India on Sunday.
It is being learnt at the same time that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has downplayed the concerns citing it as a minor issue with no challenges. The 31-year-old all-rounder is expected to resume full-fledged training and will hopefully be fit to lead the side in the opener and the subsequent clashed ahead.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are placed in the Group A alongside India, Oman and the UAE. The clash between Pakistan and Oman at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday would be their first meeting in the shortest format.
