The Maharashtra government has congratulated the Indian women's team for their maiden ODI World Cup triumph and announced cash rewards for three players from the state.
The Maharashtra government has announced cash rewards for Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav after India's maiden Women's ODI World Cup triumph. Mandhana, Rodrigues and Radha were part of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team that defeated South Africa in the final to script history by clinching India's first-ever Women's World Cup trophy.
India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in front of a packed DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, November 02, to create history. Ending their long-standing ICC trophy drought, India became only the fourth team after Australia, England and New Zealand to win the Women's ODI World Cup.
Following their memorable victory, wishes have been pouring in from all corners for the victorious Indian players. Some state governments have also announced cash rewards for the players from their state who were part of the World Cup-winning squad. The Maharashtra government followed suit on Tuesday.
The Maharashtra cabinet congratulated the Indian women's team for their World Cup victory and approved cash rewards for state players - Mandhana, Rodrigues and Radha for their contribution in the triumph. The players will also be felicitated by the Maharashtra government, however, the amount of the cash reward has not been specified.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the victorious Indian women's cricket team. The amount will be divided among the members of the squad, support staff, the coaching staff and the selectors.
Mandhana, Rodrigues played a key role in India's World Cup victory
Mandhana and Rodrigues were among the top performers for India in the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup and played a key role in India's victory. Mandhana finished as the highest run-getter for India in the tournament with an impressive 434 runs in 9 matches at an average of over 54, including two fifties and a century.
She played a crucial knock of 45 runs in the final and was involved in a 104-run opening stand with Shafali Verma (87) that set up the stage for a strong total for India. Rodrigues slammed a brilliant knock of unbeaten 127 to help India stun Australia by pulling off a record chase in the semi-final.
She finished the tournament with 292 runs in 8 matches at an average of over 58 and was also one of the best fielders for India throughout the tournament. Radha was also a livewire on the field for India in the game that she featured in. She played only three matches in the tournament and picked up 4 wickets.
