New Delhi: Pakistan women's team finds itself at the center of criticism after a flop show at the ongoing women's World Cup 2025. In a total of six matches played till now, Pakistan is the only team in the eight-team event to not win even a single match.

The Women in Green lost four matches and in the other two, they shared points with their respective opponents as rain played a spoilsport in both the games. While South Africa, Australia and England have already made their way into the tournament semifinals, bottom-placed Pakistan and Bangladesh have been eliminated from the marquee event.

Even Bangladesh, which is at the seventh spot, has managed to win a game but luck did not favour listless Pakistan in any of the matches. as they were mercilessly thrashed in each of the contests. In their last match against South Africa women on Tuesday, Pakistan received another thrashing as they failed to showcase any courage with either the ball or the bat before rain interruption took the game in favour of the Proteas women after DLS was put into place.

Pakistan face heavy criticism

Not just the users on social media and the critics, people from Pakistan cricket have also criticized the women's team heavily for a below-par performance in the showpiece event. While the fans and critics on social media compared them to the men's team which is questioned even on the smallest of the mistakes, the cricket fraternity demanded improvements.

Starting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who asked the advisory panel to review the team's poor showing, former skipper Javeria Khan criticised the batting unit saying that the players lacked the power and skills of other teams while former pace bowler Kabir Khan called for a stronger domestic structure to develop new talent.

'The batters didn’t get going but the bowlers had even Australia, India and England in difficult situations but couldn’t finish the job. I think the opening match defeat to Bangladesh rattled the confidence of the players,' said Javeria.

Meanwhile, a social media user on X commented that when the Pakistan men’s team perform badly they are not spared by anyone and players and officials face the brunt but sadly no one takes women's cricket as seriously despite the investment made by the PCB.
