New Delhi: India's Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill has been declared fully fit and available for selection after completing his rehabilitation program successfully at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE).

According to an India Today report, Gill has not only completed his rehab but also met all fitness requirements and performance criteria required for his return to cricket. His recovery process has been closely monitored, and the fitness results have been termed "successful and satisfactory".

Gill got injured while batting during India's first innings of the opening Test against South Africa in Kolkata. He aggravated a neck injury while playing a shot for the boundary. He was admitted to the hospital immediately after the fitness concern and was discharged the following day.

He missed the remaining Test match in Kolkata, where the hosts lost by 30 runs. The Indian captain travelled with the team to Guwahati, but didn't train with the squad. He was expected to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the second match.

However, the BCCI medical team didn't take any risks, prompting his withdrawal from the Test match. He then left for Mumbai from Guwahati to consult a specialist for further assessment and injury management. India's captain Gill was not part of the three-match ODI series, which is currently levelled at 1-1.

However, earlier this week, he was selected in India’s 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series, with his availability subject to him getting fitness clearance from COE, which he reportedly has obtained. Upon his comeback, he will open along with Abhishek Sharma in the T20I series scheduled to begin on December 9 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
