T20 WC 2026: India scheduled to lock horns with Pakistan on February 15 - Report

There would be 20 participants in the showpiece event with Italy making their debut at the World Cup and India going in as the defending champions.

New Delhi: Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to lock horns on February 15 in Colombo at the 2026 T20 World Cup, according to multiple reports. Both the neighbouring nations find themselves in the same group once again in the tournament that is set to begin from February 7 to March 8 across venues in India and Sri Lanka.

According to reports in the Sportstar and Revsportz, India's schedule for the showpiece event was released on Friday although there hasn't been any official communication. The defending champions have been grouped with Pakistan, Namibia, Netherlands and the United States. The multiple reports suggest that India will open their campaign against the United States in Ahmedabad on February 8.

This will be followed by a game against Namibia in Delhi on February 12 before facing-off with the traditional rivals in 15th of the month in Sri Lanka. The reigning champions will paly their final group clash against Netherlands on February 18 in Mumbai. Ahmedabad city, Chennai and Kolkata are expected to host the Super 8 clash of the marquee event.

Hybrid model to continue

The reports also mention that Colombo will likely to host the first semifinal on March 4 while Mumbai will be the venue for the second semifinal on March 5. It is also being learnt that the hybrid model will continue for Pakistan as they will play all their matches in Sri Lanka and not India. If the Men in Green reach the semifinal, then the game would be played in Colombo and if they manage to reach the final, the venue for the summit clash would be decided.
