Former Indian player Yuvraj Singh was one of the fiercest batters in the history of T20 internationals. While he represented India across formats but his main expertise in terms of lethal power-hitting made him the best fit for the most exciting formats of the game, the T20Is. In a decade of his association with the format, Yuvraj, who was an all-rounder, displayed his magical skills not only with the bat but the ball as well.
The flamboyant cricketer primarily functioned as a left-handed batter but also amazed the audience and fellow players with his unorthodox left-arm bowling skills. Yuvraj grabbed all the headlines at the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 after he hit England bowler Stuart Broad for as many as six sixes in an over. This feat was achieved only three times previously in any form of senior cricket.
In the same encounter against the English side, the flamboyant batter also set the record for the quickest fifty in T20Is and in entire T20 cricket. Yuvraj reached 50 runs in just 12 deliveries scripting the record for the fastest half-century in international cricket. It was finally broken by Dipendra Airee during 2023 Asian Games but the Indian batter still holds the record in the Cricket World Cup and among ICC full member nations.
In the year 2011, a terrible phase came in his life when the talented cricketer was diagnosed by a cancerous tumour in his left lung. Yuvraj showed signs of pain during India's 2011 ODI World Cup campaign as well and finally after the Men in Blue lifted the coveted trophy, Yuvraj underwent chemotherapy and a series of treatments for couple of years, again making a return to cricket.
He continued representing India in both the formats for few more years and finally bid adieu to his cricketing career in 2017. In a total of 51 innings in the T20 format, Yuvraj has scored 1177 runs with a highest score of 77 not out. Although he failed to score a century in the format but smashed 8 half-centuries with a striking strike rate. The 2007 T20 World Cup proved to be one of the best ICC events for the batter as he smashed couple of sensational knocks to help his side standout in the competition.

It set the base for India's campaign at the ICC event as they went about winning all their matches including the final in Johannesburg against Pakistan.
On back of his sensational power-hitting, Yuvraj zoomed to his half-century in just 12 balls, which is still the fastest in T20Is and finished the game with a blazing strike rate of 362.50 in India’s total of 218. 18 years ago, that was the most lethal innings ever seen between the 22 yards.
