Asia Cup 2025: India vice-captain Shubman Gill was outfoxed by left-arm pacer Shah Faisal, who bamboozled India's Test captain by a corker of a delivery.
New Delhi: Shubman Gill missed a golden chance to get some runs under his belt ahead of the Super 4s stage after yet another cheap dismissal in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
India finally got the opportunity to give their batters some much-needed time in the middle after Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and gave his batters a chance to spend some time at the crease in the team's last league match.
Before the Oman match, India fielded first in both matches (vs UAE and Pakistan) and won the match comprehensively by 9 wickets and 7 wickets respectively. While Gill remained not out on 20 against the UAE, he was dismissed early for 10 against Pakistan. The contest against Omani bowlers was an ideal chance for Gill to get some momentum ahead of the Super 4s.
But the Indian vice-captain could only manage to stay at the crease for eight balls and was dismissed for five in the second over. Similar to the game against Pakistan, Gill was undone by a superb delivery. In the game against Pakistan, Gill was undone by a beauty from part-time spinner Saim Ayub. Against Oman, he was outfoxed by left-arm pacer Shah Faisal, who bamboozled India's Test captain by a corker of a delivery.
Fasal, who made his debut against Pakistan a week ago in the continental tournament, deceived Gill by an inswinger. The 28-year-old fast bowler drew Gill into the drive, created the gap between bat and pad for the ball to sneak through, and beat Gill's inside edge to strike the off-stump.

Abhishek, Samson rebuild for India
Undeterred by the early dismissal, Abhishek Sharma put the pressure back on the Omani bowlers with scintillating batting. Abhishek toyed with Omani bowlers, hitting them to all corners of the park. He joined hands with Sanju Samson, who was elevated up the order, to add 66 runs in quick time. He was dismissed in the seventh over for 38 off 15 balls (5x4s, 2x6s).
Earlier, India skipper Suryakumar chose to bat in the last Group A match. The defending champions made two changes to the side that defeated Pakistan on Sunday, including Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh in place of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy.
